Ok I wanted to share with everyone how it got fixed on our system.

I found an article saying that the XTension and XTension Disabled items are recreated each time you open Quark and that if you are using QuarkXPress 4.x they could be deleted. Well, I'm on 6.1, but found these items, not the 'shared_omnithread.lib' and 'shared_orbcore.lib' that the troubleshooting manual within the software suggested I delete.

So, I deleted the XTension and XTension Disabled items and BOOM, it worked.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for you reply. I think I might have removed that version of the com.quark....plist last week. I removed the one as stated above, and it has not regenerated a new one yet...Probably because it can't actually finish loading the program.

The only thing I've done on the MAC is to install Word. I'm a PC technician and have no clue about Mac's. I do have the cd though. There were a few other things I stumbled on. One of them being possibly issues with the fonts or maybe printer stuff. I think I'll try those before the reinstall. (Although, maybe installing is easy on Mac...again I don't really know)

Thanks again.

I don't have quark, but many apps have two sets of preferences, some in the location described above, and some in /Library/Preferences. If your main hard drive is called "Macintosh HD" then it would be in Macintosh HD->Library->Preferences->com.quark.....plist

If that file is there, and you trash it, you may lose some system-wide preference settings for quark, but it might start working again.

Another possibility is to uninstall it and reinstall it.

Hi there. We have the same issue here and I've tried trashing the preference file, but it still won't work. Any other suggestions?

Your preference file can be found user>library>preferences>com.quark......plist

just drag it to the desktop or trash and restart quark - if it works, it'll create a new plist where the old one used to be. If you had any preferences set, they will be reset to default so you'll have to set them the way you want them again.

Good luck

I'm running Quark 6.5 on my Mac OS10. My Quark had been working fine and now this morning it won't open. The window showing Quark will open and the icon will jump, but the clock just runs and runs and nothing happens. I read a past post that talked about trashing the preferences folder, but I'm not sure which folder they mean. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
