I think apple should have made the OS X DVD player read VCDs also. I have to watch them on QuickTime. Does anyone know if there's a patch that allows DVD player to read VCDs?

not sure what you mean. you're going to be watching your movies in an app of SOME sort, VLC is a good app, but you can play within quicktime if you prefer.
