what can be done to get back into this old Imac? Ive been using it w/ external cd-rom 'cause the front-load CD-R is toast. I lent it out and it was returned
in a condition where none of the passwords work. It has original version of OS X and Classic on it. can I "backdoor" this thing with my G5 w/Lepord?

Re: help w/ 2002 IMac password issues??????
Sat, April 11, 2009 - 5:27 PMThe solution Apple recommends is to boot off your software install disk and use the password reset tool that's on there. Otherwise, if you don't have such a disk, you could try the "Option 2" procedure listed on this site in the OS X section:
www.1nova.com/blog/
Note that in Step 3 in that process you can use "passwd user" instead of "passwd root", where "user" is the short username for your account(s), and you can also repeat it as many times as you need to if you have several accounts you need to reset the password for, though once you get one admin password reset you can use the Account preferences to reset any other passwords.
HTH - Good luck!
