Nope, I was being silly. I hate the idea of the new newton. The iPod Touch is perfect. Trying to upscale it is asinine. It does have some limitations that could be resolved by a tablet/book model, but making use of the multitouch tech or the new reactive learning keyboard (took a while, but I'm a believer) could make a tablet a wonder. Add in a stylus mode for a serious paint program, and an actual OS for more mainstream applications like .... Oh, I dunno, How about a word processing program? I don't think I'd want to try building HTML pages on a Touch, but with a larger screen and the ability to store files and I think you've got something.

I think that's where people run into problems with the iPhone/Touch. They're still thinking of it as a computer because it does so much. And the people who think it's a Palm don't really get it either. You have to accept it for what it is and the power of the device suddenly blossoms.

Big greasy smudges on your screen add a certain ... je ne sais quoi.

Well really I'd just like to have an Apple netbook. If it comes with a touchscreen, fine, as long as it also comes with a keyboard.
