I'm a film maker who will eventually go into HD production, so i have to move up from my G4 powerbook, which has been serving me well up till now to something beefier... i was thinking of the G5 tower, but then i saw the Mac Pro tower, and all its potential in upgrades and i thought,, well then!
So if anyone has any experiance with this monstrosity of a machine i would love to hear any advice you can give!
thanks a million

Re: the Mac Pro (tower)
Thu, September 20, 2007 - 9:16 AMFYI, you may want to head over to the MacOSX tribe for more feedback.
I currently have a PowerMac G5 and am awaiting the next generation MacPro to upgrade. I don't need the MacPro but my G5 is getting quite old and its getting behind the times. That being said, more CPUs are always better. I'm a code-writer (scientific simulations) and the extra compute-power will be used.
My biggest gripe with the PowerMac is the lack of fast video cards. The ATI X800 is great but hard to find. I would suggest that you definitely get the MacPro over the PowerMac. If only for future upgrades and such.
